When I was exploring a new subject, I came across this Shul.
What spoke to me where all the angles and how the Shul was comfortably nestled amongst the many angles of many buildings.
I took several pictures and was able to visualize of what I wanted to illustrate.
I taped Bristol 100 lb. Vellum surface gallery quality paper and secured it to several boards.
Thus preventing the shifting of the paper during this 50 plus hours of drawing, erasing and inking this project.
I used a number two lead mechanical pencil, kneaded eraser, pen eraser with grit and translucent ruler.
I used a very fine line Sakura pen with black archival ink.
Before it dried, I blended it with a light cool gray brush tip over the white areas to give a shadowy effect.
I then darkened the sketch lines in pencil and then started to ink it.
l constantly blended, erased and highlighted different tonal values to help move the eye evenly throughout the picture.
I continue to pencil in and the the limestone brickwork of the façade of the building.
I inked the tree tops in the background.
I moved the windows around many times.
I then darkened in the middle ground and gave shading to the buildings to add dimension.
I constantly work different shades of gray in and out of the picture until I was finished B"H.
